SLS Ministries is a mission of three works: Sisters Lifting Sisters, Word Alive, and Shumbael Shelter.
The ministries operate to provide social resources, counseling and educational services for charitable purposes. We meet the emotional and psychological needs of persons seeking social assistance and counseling services. It is our intent to provide God’s people with assistance in obtaining social services, education, counseling and mentoring. It also provides services in conjunction with other existing service organizations. We meet monthly for study of the Word as a part of our mission to instruct the public in the Word of God for life application that will be useful to individuals and beneficial to the community. The ministry conducts educational programs through meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops and publications. SLS provides services without regard to race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or national origin.
Sisters Lifting Sisters is a women resource and counseling center. This part of the ministry is dedicated to supplying women with a forum of biblical enrichment in order to apply the word of God to today's lifestyle. Our mission is to teach through the Word their roles as women, mothers, wives and leaders. We want to provide a safe place to come for healing from a multitude of concerns that are a by-product of their past and/or present circumstances. Often this healing never occurs because we are instructed by society to put behind us the things of the past. As a result we never heal from the injuries of rape, incest, abandonment, rejection, molestation, low self-esteem or grieve our loss of friendships, spouses or children due to misunderstandings, divorce, adultery, mis-carriages and abortions.
